Presents a conversation with
The International Student House of Washington, DC is delighted to welcome the Ambassador of Switzerland Jacques Pitteloud, to the Ella Burling "Great Hall" on June 18th for an engaging conversation on challenges and opportunities of the U.S. foreign and defense policy.
Doors open at 6:00 PM, program starts at 6:30 PM.

Ambassador Pitteloud was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He earned a doctorate in law at the University of Zurich, with further education in security policy at Geneva University.
Dr. Pitteloud has a distinguished career of public service in the military and the Swiss Foreign Service, which he joined in 1987. He has served as Ambassador of Switzerland to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and the Seychelles (2010 – 2015), director for resources of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (2015-2019) and currently serves as the Swiss Ambassador to the United States (2019-present).
A retired lieutenant colonel (General Staff) in the Swiss Armed Forces, Dr. Pitteloud also served as the Swiss government’s first intelligence coordinator (2000 – 2005), and Director for Arms Control, Disarmament, Security Policy and Intelligence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bern.
A lifelong ornithologist, Ambassador Pitteloud is married with one daughter.

We strive to be the model international community and our mission is “soft diplomacy” at its best. Our resident scholars gain a unique cross-cultural experience at the House that helps prepare them for future leadership roles and to take on global challenges. The House instills a spirit of international cooperation and the open exchange of ideas that fosters global citizenship. We lay the foundations for long-term and long-distance global relationships that are realized when scholars return home to their countries.
