International perspectives, lifelong impact
presents
The International Student House of Washington, DC is delighted to welcome Julie R. Gralow, MD, for a visual presentation Beyond Borders: A Career in Global Oncology and The Power of Partnerships, Advocacy, and Collaboration, followed by Q&A. Dr. Gralow will provide a firsthand account of lessons learned from a career focused on building global oncology partnerships, using examples like the USAID-funded Ukraine Breast Cancer Assistance Project and the Fred Hutchinson-Uganda Cancer Institute Program. The discussion will detail how these collaborations laid the groundwork for creation of the Women’s Empowerment Cancer Advocacy Network (WE CAN) in Eastern Europe/Central Asia and East Africa, mobilizing breast and cervical cancer patients as partners in improving cancer care. Dr. Gralow will also highlight efforts to enhance global access and quality of cancer care, support key World Health Organization (WHO) and other global health initiatives, and cultivate the next generation of oncology leaders throughout the world. Finally, Dr. Gralow will look ahead to future efforts, including the 2025 UN High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases and the push for a Global Cancer Fund.
